Accessibility
Guess Macro is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The points below are measured rather than asserted, and the measurements are re-run whenever the design changes.
Colour and contrast
Every text pair on the site clears the 4.5:1 contrast minimum, in both the light and dark themes. Letters on the board clear 4.5:1 as well, above the 3:1 that large text is allowed, because they are read quickly and under time pressure.
The board does not rely on colour alone. The three tile states are separated by brightness, not just hue, so they stay distinguishable with any form of colour blindness. Measured against simulated protanopia, deuteranopia and tritanopia, the closest pair of states stays 2.05:1 apart in the light theme and 2.63:1 in the dark one. For comparison, a palette separated by hue alone typically collapses to about 1.2:1 under red-green colour blindness.
Keyboard and screen readers
The game is fully playable from the keyboard: type letters, press Enter to submit a guess, Backspace to delete. Every page starts with a skip link so you can jump past the header, every interactive control has a visible focus outline, and pages use real landmarks and headings rather than styled text.
Motion and zoom
Tiles flip and the board animates when a guess lands. If your system asks for reduced motion, those animations are switched off and the result appears without them. No animation runs longer than a third of a second.
Text can be pinch-zoomed and scales to 200% without loss of content. The one exception is the game board itself, where zoom is locked so a double-tap during a timed round cannot throw the board off-screen.
Known gaps
The game is timed, which is a barrier if you need longer to read or type. There is no untimed mode today. The clock is for the leaderboard only, so you can ignore it and play at any pace, but it keeps running and a slower round scores lower.
The practice archive has no timer pressure of consequence, since practice rounds are never scored or published.
Telling us about a barrier
If something on the site is hard or impossible to use, email ryanhhogan@gmail.com and say what you were trying to do, what happened, and what you use to browse. Accessibility reports are treated as bugs rather than requests.
